Engine mont orientation

Hi guys, what's the correct way to orientate the two e28 m5 cylindrical rubber mounts?

Studs in the outer holes, locating tabs in the inner holes

I tried this but it was very difficult getting the engine onto the studs of the rubber mounts. Do they have to be forced on quite hard? I'll try it again but loosen the mounts a bit before I slip them on.

Loose them off to fit them to the arms
