Just removed a 4HP22 automatic box from an M10 engine , and the torque convertor is still attached to the flywheel.
Any special technique to removing it?

Torque convertor may well be attached to the crank shaft, but I would be very suprised if there's a flywheel there!
Only done this once, myself, but my elderly mind seems to recall that between the converter and the crank there are a number, possibly six,M12 bolts.

Thanks daimlerman.
Yes, not a flywheel, but the lump of metal that the starter ring is attached to.
There appear to be a three bolts, but their heads face forward of the starter ring, so are inaccessible.

I think that the bit with the three bolts slides back a little,to allow a tool in.
As I posted,I've only removed one,and that was when I yanked my 2.7 donor engine out of a scrap E28 in an Indian guy's back garden in Leeds, about 6 or 7 years ago, hence my hazy recolection!
I do remember that he had a stunning wife,though....

The three bolts can be accessed via the aperture where the starter motor goes. However, due to offset you can't get a socket on, so it requires a well cranked ring spanner.
Sounds like you had your mind on the job, Daimlerman...

Just done one last week. Take it you lost you a lot of oil by taking the torque convertor off the box?
There are 3 17mm bolts sat round the flywheel. I found the best thing was to take the cover off the bottom of the box, and go with a 17mm 6 point socket on a 6" extension bar and try and get the socket in the crook between the block and the sump. Ram a screwdriver in between the block and the flywheel teeth. They are tight though, so if you've only got a small ratchet you'll want something to extend it with.
I tried using a swan neck 17 but they were too tight. They are awkward bolts though. Sit too far in on the flywheel to get at them easily with a socket, and then they made them recess in the flywheel to you couldn't get them with a normal ring spanner.

Crikey, when I took the auto box off last year the converter just yanked straight off the shaft, the starter ring/flywheel nut's weren't touched.
