Anyone able to suggest how I might get an E30 started without a key? Obviously this is something that we dont want posting on an open forum so a pm would be great.

Magpie did pm me with some info but it seems that way means it will damage trim etc.

The steering lock is on so I cant remove the column plastics to unplug what was said to unplug... Is there any special trick with a bit of wire, a cheese cake and a old shoe bridged etc?

Any help would be great. Want to test this engine asap. Im hoping the previous ownder finds the key but until then I didnt want to damage anything in the process... If it gets to the point where I want it on the road then i'll have to break parts and replace them

Do you need to drive it or just start it? If its just starting it its very simple, just need the bonnet open and some bits of wire

Just start it Dan, I can wait for the key, I just want to hear it running first of all, then if anything, driving it in a straight line up and down the drive way.

I cant remember the numbers to bridge in the plug part, but I also thought the ignition needed to be on to do that? If not, let me know how :D

All of the info to get the engine running is in the Wiki, if you read it properly...

(I won't post a link here so that it doesn't show up in a google search result)
