Im going to rebuild a set of shafts for my e30.
Can anyone recommend where to buy the cv boots from as a kit?
Also are there any good guides on this?

GSF and ECP both do the kits. Are you doing the inner or outer boots or both?

I was going to do both. Might as well if your doing it.
Is it a easy job or is there anything I need to know? Looks simple.

Rebuilding or fitting new covers? Some of the covers/caps are dealer only and last time I priced them up it was going to be £70 odd just for the dealer only bits, I have looked for complete new CV's in the past but gave up, they seemed to be more readily available in America, I think the best quote I got for complete new driveshafts direct from GKN were about £250 each.
ECP were doing recon shafts a couple of years ago for about £120 a piece, im not sure of the quality though

I have a failed outer boot on mine and I need to get it done before the next MOT. I'm going to go with replacing the drive shaft for one with good boots on it and paying Boyd to do it so cant really comment on the fitting side of things.

I wanted "as new" genuine shafts, Ive used copies before and there just not strong enough. Id like to reuse everything I can but if it needs changing then it will have to be bought.
I have seen the kits in america. Postage kills it though. So gsf do the rubber boot, then get everything else from dealer?

How will you rebuild the play in the CV's? Oversized ball bearings?

No plan for that, if they have play they will go in the bin. Im just cleaning, painting, new grease and new boots.

Oh, I have a few that have play. Would be good to find a way to rebuild them.
