well im wanting to sort my powersteering this weekend, on the pump i have 3 outlets and 2 outlets off the reservoir and 2 outlets on the steering rack. my question is how the hell do i connect these up? what sequence do they connect?

I think you have hit the nail on the head there will, I'd say the pump is of the hydro type because of the 3 outlets. I'm just wondering if I block the smallest and run the 2? I had the engine running and put my finger over the outlet to the rack which had pressure but the smallest outlet has neither vacuum or pressure? So wondering if I could just block the bugger?

You must not block that outlet... it will destroy your pump.

Open the pump and then you will see, what has to be removed. Or buy a regular pump for m60 sedans, without automatic level control.

Most of the V8 PS pumps seem to have the third outlet. I've just blocked it in my V8 projects, and the pumps seem to work fine.

ETK will show you which hose goes where ;)

i ran it without any fluid in

ill be either looking for this m60 pump without auto leveling or go the safe route like you will and go for the E30 P/S pump. have you got any pics will because the pulley on the M60 is 4 bolt flay belt and the E30 is 3 bolt V belt?

Yes, E30 pump is much better as it's also matched to the steering rack flow/pressure wise.

It'll be interesting to see how you've bolted the E30 pump to V8..

Yea I'd say your right there, I was worried about blowing the ends off my rack with the M60 pump.

We need pics will :D

hi Michael

ahh well i havent been on here for a while but its up and running and went to its first trackday acouple weeks back. bloody amazing and a complete handful id describe it 8) well i must admit i had a open diff on there which made it quite unpredictable at times.
im looking for a LSD at the minute though.
as for the trackday after i ripped out the thermostat because it was seized, cut holes in the front bumper and raised the bonnet she was rubbing cool again
then the powersteering decided to shit its self  so a powersteering cooler later and another rear shock and its good to go again (apart from the LSD but i might weld it for the time being)

hows yours getting on dude?

Congratulations Ben! I'm really pleased for you and also envious

Did you go to Brands for the first trackday? I can imagine the fun you had! You've done a great job and I bet you're really chuffed :D Are you pleased with the sound of your exhaust?

Mine has been getting some decent attention from someone who has done a fair amount of V8 E30 conversions, so he's having to do some remedial work where mistakes have been made along the way. Suffice it to say that my driver's manifold is getting re-made in order to clear an E36 or Z3 rack. So, good news really, but not sure when I'll be done exactly.

Will you be getting yours rolling roaded (or has it been done already)? I'd love to know what yours is putting down.
