Help me out here, it's the first time I've actually taken my head apart, and re assembled it, I followed instructions in the Haynes, but I get stuck on when putting the camshaft in, I can't seem to get enough clearance on the rockers to clear the Main Journals on the Camshaft... I'm confused.

Yeee gads! You sure the spokes on the pulley are gonne be strong enough now?

Thought the cam went in first, followed by the rockers and their shafts.

That's the way I did it anyway and it was a piece of piss :)

Yeah, I recon they will hold... I actually copied a Vernier, that a company makes over here for the Nissan Sr20 from the old Pulley.

Yeah, I thought that it would be better to put the cam in first... but I followed the instuctions in the Haynes, which said u put the rockers in first. I'm gonna give that a go when I get back home

Seem to recall that with a big of jiggery pokery, you can get the rockers to swap positions so that they're away from the valves and just flapping about.

Makes it easier to move things about.

Must admit that I didn't actually read the book-of-lies when I dismantled/rebuilt my 'head.

The Bentley manual describes the rockers going in last. How odd that the Haynes should be completely the opposite...

Haynes is a piece of poo...

I put the cam shaft in first, then the rockers and I just locked a bolt into the camshaft to turn it... worked very well.

Thanks for the help guys

Cam goes in first, very carefully, so as not to scratch the bearings with the lobes.
Rockers and shafts then go in, and with carefull turning of the cam and positioning of the rockers, no force should be needed to slide the shafts in, (unlike the "professiomally" built head I bought once, in which the shafts had been hit and belled out so much they wouldn't come out through the cut outs in the end of the head)
