Hi my fellow zoners. I've got a 1990 316i e30 5 door. The problem I have is she's letting in water from the boot. Is there a cheap quick fix until I can get new rubber seals? Any help and advice would be much appreciated. Thanks for reading. Ry.

Which seals are leaking?
If its the rear light seals make sure the light units are done up tight, or see how much the seals are from BMW

Find the fault first unless you have ruled it down to the boot trim? If not, then I would be looking at the light gaskets too. You don't want to replace the rubber then realise you still have a leak.
Also, if it is your boot trim, you can use the adjusters to lower/higher it slightly. I would also re,ove and clean it all as that sometime helps, then refit.
The light seals, as a quick fix, take the lights out, clean everything up, the lights, the car etc, then remove the rubber seal from each, turn them back to front and fit to the opposite light. It should hopefully create a temp fixed seal, it wil probably last for sometime time, but at least you can find out if that is the fault then, then replace with fresh ones.

Thanks guys. Heres a video of the problem. I think the leaks coming from the top of the boot, where the water is in the sills. Any further advice would be much appreciated. Heres the link to my video:

Is the car parked on a slope? On my car I have never seen water collect like it does on yours.
I would take the rear light out and check the gasket on the off side.

Yeah she's parked on my mums sloping drive. Thanks mate I will do that tomorrow and let you know the results mate. Do you think I would be better driving in my drive instead of reversing in, and then that way the boot will be facing down instead of up. Or do you think that would be worse? Get back to me as soon as you can mate. Thanks. Ry.
