I was coming back from Grimsby heading to Birmingham in my E39 523i, I was doing about 90mph and the car had just cut off as if the ignition was turned off. I did all the regular check and all was fine but still would not start. I gave up after an hour and got a recovery back to Birmingham.
I tried to start it today ad it started straight away, at times if i drive it hard it will cut off but will start again and when stationery revving the car the exhaust will just start popping and find it hard to rev over 4k but when driving she seems fine.
Does anyone on here have any idea?
I know it is not a E30 but some of you might be able to help.
thanks in advance for any help you guys/girls can give. I need to sort this out before i can sort out my E30. Thanks once again.

Yep i had one that did exactly the same. It ended up being one of the lambda sensors. From memory i think their is either 4 or 6 of them on that car.
Get it checked mate otherwise you will never know for sure.
