Hi, am i right in thinking that converting my 316 which has 45mm struts to 51mm struts is as simple as swapping them over? If so the springs can also be swapped over right?
What about the shocks? I have Weitec shortend shocks for 45mm struts, would there be anyway of swapping them to or would i need to purchase a new set?
Thanks,
Dan

Springs are fine (if you're sticking with the 4 pot motor), you will need new shocks for the 51mm struts, as your shocks are designed for the 45s and are therefore smaller in diameter.

You need the Strut Legs off a 51mm car I think. Trying to get the Collar nut to turn when replacing the Inserts, is normally a battle.

Hmm okay maybe best to stick with 45mm then. If i was to upgrade engine to say an m20 would it be advisable to get 51mm struts? The reason im asking is because i need to higher my car, and a guy on this forum is selling 51mm struts with disks, calipers and springs for a decent price...

I've run an M20 on lowered 45s. Was bouncy up front, but did 2 yrs service without falling apart. I'd still recommend fitting 51s though.
