Yep speed bumps are something I have to factor in.. at the moment its a pleasure driving it standard (bumps wise). Its a bit boat like when pushed hard, but overall its pretty tight. (sorry to the OP for going off topic/highjack, I'll stop after this..) I thought B6 and B8's where the same for stiffness yet the B8's where better for lower springs.. I would probably go for Eibach Pro's.. all on 15 BBS with normal profile tyres..

If you could get the grip down, acceleration must have been insane with that set-up!jmc330i wrote:S50 conversion with 4.27 diff (gearbox needs a 3.15 ish) on cheapo plastic tyres on 14" botttle tops - that was fun. had a 3.91 with mine and there was no first gear 10mph ish max at 5000rpm but was quick up to 4th but just feels like it works the gearbox to much. fun yeah but not worth it with a E36 box. got a 3.25 diff now and is nice
Wheelspin = less throttle.......
The v8 can be a handful in the rain even on 255s, but I get one fine with it and my silly ratio welded diff, itll light up 5th at around 80mph if your a knob, having driven plenty of 325s to must be driving like a bit of a bellend to get it swinging out all the time with an open diff..
jmc - always wanted a go in a s50, bet it ripped on that set up

you mean to tell me you have fitted an m52 conversion (or had it fitted for you) and you still run the smaller 47mm front struts.. which means you still have 318 brakes??im running H&R E30 M3 spring's with 318i shocks

M52 is actually pretty much the same weight as an S14.
You can still fit 325 brakes on 45mm struts. How do you think they managed them on the 320s?
I have 45mm struts on one of my E30s as it was originally a 320 but with better brakes, coilovers and an S54 to sit on top of them
E30s are pretty tail happy but unless you have silly power altogether (at least more than any S50 or anything like that) or just absolute shite tyres, I can't see how one would step out uncontrollably to the point that your getting worried and asking questions about it.
I reckon its just shite tyres really though unless your treating the throttle like a on/off switch and being silly with aggressive gear changes in the middle of corners

Exactly. My moneys on this car having cheap budget (or bald) tyres and the wrong ratio diff.Cloggy Saint wrote:Surely any rwd car is only "tail happy in the wet" if you're not driving it according to conditions. Less throttle = not tail happy
I've driven more 325's than any other and a standard car is no more tail happy than an e34 with decent tyres and the correct ratio diff.
And it's nothing to do with 14" bottle tops either. The 325 was available from new with them! Nothing to do with lack of LSD either. They were available without them from new as well.
B7's Motto. "If it's French, BURN IT!!!!!!"
Lsd would have an effect, Lack of LSD, from all 325 I have driven, would make it harder to step out as it would just do the wobbly spin the inside wheel, based on not driving to match the conditions
A 5 series has a longer wheelbase and that will make it harder to break the grip and slide
My old 5 series I used to drift you could have a sandwich inbetween each transition,
The longer the car the slower the rotation is

I had a surpise sideways moment on the way to do some overtime this morning, nothing major. First time it's happened since the first time it happened 6 months ago. And the first time was bad - really bad. My friend almost ended up 'at one' with a tree.
i dont drift my car like a prat everywhere but i do like to hang her out there often enough to know what to do if or when she decides she wants to break free
