The ICV (it's a T-shaped one) on my M20 has developed a high-pitched whistle when the throttle is opened.
I've had the unit off the engine and I can't see any obvious sign of it drawing air in. The engine is still running as well as it ever did, so I don't think it's running weak.
Any ideas, please?
TIA
Stuart.

Hi, I reckon if it's all clean and moves freely then it's probably on the way out. Some people say that wd 40 is too heavy and attracts dirt build up, but if its well flushed with carb cleaner first I don 't think it matters too much.
If it ain't broke..
Fix it till it is

Cleaning never cured the problem.
This morning, due to a breakdown, I've changed the ECU. Strangely, the ICV has stopped whistling now.
I really don't understand - or like - electronic engine management. Give me a pair (or better still three...) of carbs and a distributor any day.
