Im just prepping myself to attack my car. I dont want absolute drug spec tints, just a bit darker and i have rolls here, just watching some videos. Iv heard from 2 different camps, the " piece of piss, itl take you half an hour a window " camp, and the " Its the hardest thing iv ever done " side. Any tips?

I've done a few, and there's definately an art to it. No matter what you do the first window is likely to be crap.

In the past I've found it easier to take out fixed windows and do them flat on a bench with some padding under as I don't like the gap you have to leave if doing it in place to be able to squeegy the water out.

Rear screens are the hardest a they usually curve two ways, you're supposed to do them in strips, but I won't even attempt them any more, fit a rear blind instead :D
cheers,

harry

My mates mum used to do all ours in the naughties. We used to take the windows out and give them to her. She used to float the tint on the top of a bath of water with the window underneath. Somehow she used to lift the window up underneath the tint and they came out perfect every time.

trim to fit and heat srink it with the tint on the outside of the glass first with the peel off facing you. then install with light soap water spray and nice flexing edge with a cloth covering the egde it so you dont get any sratches.

I did the rear sides on my e36 on Thursday which is how I knew the first one is a nightmare. First time I'd done any for about 10 years. Could do with redoing it but not sure I've got enough film left.
cheers,

LOL, weight is an argument for on the bmx, not the car. Iv saved weight by removing the carpet anyway :P

I should probably hit carpet right and pick some up actually

But.......you simply can't argue with unsprung weight :)

Which as it happens, is unsprung with regards to a BMX, the whole bike is unsprung weight, your limbs being the suspension, your core is sprung weight, and very difficult to balance as you have found :)
