Cant wait for that day, hopefully it will v/soon

need to work out why its pumping way too much fuel through,

and also why the idle keeps rising, when the vacuum line is connected to the ECU,

If I take it off the ECU the idle comes right down..

Gunni if I send you my recent log file can you have a quick look over it and see if anything is wrong somewhere?

the vacuum line NEEDS to be connected to the ecu.
The fuel just needs tuning.

Don´t worry about the idle, I´ll sort that when I see the car.
Keep sending me logs.

I'll keep it connected dude,
when i say the idle is high im talking 2600rpm

Im going to pull the inlet etc off tomorrow just incase there are any air leaks or anything untoward,

I'll send you a log over...

Don´t pull it off unless I tell you too.

This is where we do things pro style and not just random messing around like.
Log will tell me what needs to be done if anything.

Almost certainly its so rich without the vacuum line the power goes down and idle looks good, but the case maybe that slight adjustments in the ecu are needed and this problem goes away with the 2600rpm idle.

no big deal, the more you log the better and quicker problems get resolved.

All the little jobs have now been done and there's nothing more to do except DRIVE IT

BUT.....

it's undrivable to be honest :( :(

The idle just keeps rising and rising,
it was sat at nearly 3000rpm, before I had to switch it off, didnt like that 1 bit.

seems the warmer the engine gets, the more it sits higher :?

It´s a base map. Which means the engine will start and run and thats it. Remainder is calibration.

Just done a quick skim calculation and thats about 5.5k, its so easy for the cost to mount up with a turbo conversion aint it. 8O

How much does the missus think its cost? :)

Time for a little update me thinks...

So, its been a bit crap really lol

the car would start have an erratic idle,
then die,
it would only idle at around 1200 rpm with the throttle open 7% ,
anything below that and it would just cut out,

Managed to get it up to temp a few times, but once it was switched off,
it just wouldnt start again.

I'v been speaking with gunni nearly every day for a while now,
and hes been a legend!!!

He's been tweeking the settings on the ecu and sending me the files,
i'v been putting them on and reporting back to him,
One setting he sent over, made the car work for a while............

I say while,

I managed a 7 minute test drive till it cut out at a roundabout, and i had to be rescued :(

so i had made a log file and sent it to Gunni,
he did more tweeking, and sent me more setting.
and also restricted me to 0.5 bar, because it was boosting too much,
that was my fault, as I had put the vacuum line into the wrong port on the wastegate, so it was running at 1.6 bar

He restricted it just so he could see what was what, till the fuling has been sorted out, then it'll be back on boost

So today, I managed a good test drive of it, its slow as hell with it being restricted to 0.5 bar :(
it seems to "just" come on boost, then cut off...straight away,

Still feels like its going to stall, when i come off the throttle

but to get it running properly I need to get it re-mapped

which will be happening soon :D I'll be taking the car down to see Gunni
for a live rolling road mapping session, to unleash the power

:D :D

It was sooooooo close to smooth sailing

but........................

Disaster has struck!!!!!!!!!!

I'v got a problem, a real problem with oil starvation,

I was out working on the car, trying to find a misfire, just letting it sit on idle
and i heard a "knocking"

so switched it off, stood about for a few seconds, and thought hmm has it gone..?

started it back up again and it was defiantly still there,
it seemed to be coming more from the top than the bottom end,

so today i'v just been out and ripped the rocker cover off, pulled a couple of the inlet cam caps off,
only to find they were scored to death!
so out came the inlet cam
and that is also scored to death!

the exhaust cam is fine, the lobes on both cams were dripping in oil, and there's defonatly oil getting to the turbo,

I'v checked the oil pathways on the cam carrier and there are no blockages ://

does anyone know why has this happened?
has this happened to anyone before?

and

obviously i'm going to have to replace..
the cam,
the cam caps
and the cam carrier,
so daft question coming....

I'v got a 2.8 engine sat here,
are the cams and carriers interchangeable?

the 2.5 is a non vanos and the 2.8 is a single vanos, any difference besides the vanos?

But really need to find the cause of this before i just go slapping another cam in, at the moment, i dont have a clue :(
