Using an Automatic M52 Donor

There are a lot more cheap 328i autos around than manual cars so may consider an auto donor and get the 'box seperately. I read earlier that someone had already posted some questions regarding the wiring loom having a few extra bits and bobs - if that's no problem, then that's fine.

Also, would I need a prop from a manual car? Are there any other bits I would need, aside from E30 325i clutch, flywheel & starter?

Nowt wrong with using an auto donor car.

The auto loom is separate to the engine loom, although they run alongside each other. But no major mission to separate.

As for prop, it very much depends on what manual box you are going to use.

Using an E30 gearbox removes hassles of getting an appropriate diff ratio sorted out.

Will be using the E36 gearbox as I have already sourced a Z3M LSD in 3.15 flavour, which of course should mate up to the E36 compact rear end I have without trying to find another pair of output flanges.

328i box and prop then, the linkages also work IIRC or you might need 325i/M50/Getrag linkages

Thanks Jozi. I did my loom but I haven't tested to see if it works yet so can't really advise anything as of yet!

mine came from an auto loom, no hassle at all to remove it - find all the leads that go to the transmission ecu (the small one) and snip them following them all the way back
