Im out too,bit bored with it after 3 years on the trot, going to Cranleigh instead.
Even let my BMWCC membership lapse, they dont cater that well for the older BMWs unless you are part of the elite

My CC membership saved me over £150 on my car insurance this year

Each to his own as you would agree im sure,i do not get anything out of it,but as you can see from my original post im not slagging the club off.Like i said if your not part of the elite clique or own a Batmobile, E9,E12,etc etc no one even talks to you.
Ive been a member for 3 years and now its time to move on,ive just donated to the Zone as i get more from here, but as i said Kos if you get advantages from membership fair play to you.

i have read the thread and i have never been to Gaydon before. I went to santa pod bmw show last year and loved it. Really had a great day apart from having my car parked up in the normal car park. Still im a little wiser for this year :).
So is it worth the trip to Gaydon ?

whether you have a car on display or not, its worth going.

not all the cars there are perfect but anyone putting their car on display should make the effort to have it well presented. ( bucket sponge and demon shine go a long way lol )

original or modified, concourse or daily hack all BMW's are welcome at the show.

the main show area is for club members, and the more club members with idea & opinions to take the club forwards are always welcome

Kos, are you going to walk the line of e30's and speak to the owners or set a stand of parts up and just ignore the effort put in by the masses???

Newsflash !!!! Geoff Heywood , the chairman of the BMW car club has resigned !

Rumours are flying around. Is it because of his disgust at the thought of all the unwashed council zone vermin and their rusty E30s lowering the tone ? or maybe in protest at the caterers raising the price of their dog burgers ? :)

Come on Kos, spill the beans !

One thing for sure, the caterers are not going to be happy if he doesn't show at Gaydom ! :)

on topic

if the zone would like a forum stand you need to act quick

Adi has kindly offered to help out and if there is enough interest for a forum stand it can be arranged.

every display pass will come with a ticket. if you want 2 tickets this can be arranged but i will need payment upfront

the show is on the 19th. i or Adi ( yet to decide who will deal with this ) will need payment by the 9th August and they will be posted out on the 13th.

i will confirm prices tomorrow but from memory they are about £10 each, i will add to that another £1.50 to cover the postage/envelope costs

so, get your names down

No he isn't!

I spoke with one of the directors this morning and whilst I'm not at liberty to say anything much, the Club will go on as before but with some fairly major changes - these will become evident as time goes by, and for the better too.
It's easy to knock Jeff, but if you were a BMW CC member back in 2000 when he took over, you'll know how much he has transformed the club for the better, and all unpaid. Going back to the late 1990's the club was just dead and I had a couple of years out of it because it just wasn't worth the sub. He's a bit brash is our Jeff, but he took a dying club by the ears and kicked it up the arse to make it what it is today. I guess it's time for something new however to make it even better.

It needs an overhaul Andy. I'm no longer a member. i'll rejoin if I can't get my insurance through but it offers me little else that interests me TBH.

What pissed me off was that last year my renewal was up in May. I didn't renew until August and they back dated my renewal date!!!!! So I lost 2 over two months of membership?

True. I don't think Jeff had much interest in the older stuff and 5 pages on how good the new X5 whatever isn't of interest to me either. But, that will be changing.

I like reading the old ones from the 1980's with tests on cars like the E30 when they were new and cheesy photos of handovers to celebrities - E28 520i's on steels!

drift cocks need not apply :D

modified or original, doesnt matter
straight honest cars with no rust and multi coloured panel gaps and no alpina reps.

well presented, washed maybe a polish :D
