hmmmm i have been a bit silly and lowered the sport even more to 60/40 from 35/35

As i have managed to get hold of some H&R cupkit springs minus the shocks! Ta Sal.

Just a few pic's to show the difference in size between the H&R springs.

35mm are red
60/40's are black.

Front springs
Image

Rears, now tell me theres a 5mm difference in these! more like 15mm on the car!
Image

A few shite ones of them on the car

Image

Now having had a good blast on some B-roads i confidently say the folling in the differences! As i have used the same shocks with both.

Cupkit, handles a bit better. Theres less roll, which encourages insane speeds. But i find theres a bit less feedback with these springs, i imagine the car would bite u very quickly when it breaks traction. The ride is horrendous! Is this because the cupkit shocks are alot softer than my bilstein sprints?. Oh the rear wheels rub a bit as they are too wide 16x8!

35mm springs, good ride, not as low but not by much, more feel of limits when cornering.

U can't say the cupkit springs do not match the shocks as my shocks match to any springs! So in theory this setup is better than the cupkit!
Could be hilarious on track with cupkit springs!

I'm not sure how long they will be staying on for!

no u need the bigger 51mm struts malco, but H&R do 4 pot springs. other springs will go on the SE or the other way round! one of the 2

Oh and thanks J for helping with this!

yeah but the front will be too high as your engine is too light! :D Demlots sits a bit higher than my car becasue of this reason, even though we have had identical setups with shocks/springs!

Car looks superb!

I think the term adjust on the bilstiens is obviously a big vague. Sit in a car with the whole cup kit fitted and its sublime as well as handles superb.

Maybe the 35mm Springs are a better match with the Bilsteins.

Keep them in for a while and see what happens.

Josh it's not that bad! I've been over most of the speed humps in my area at the same speeds as before, and no scraping yet..................

Hmm, I kinda figured it would do. Im deffo looking to put H&R on mine at some point early next year, but 35mm is prolly the best around here.

All I can think of when someone says 60mm is a lot of scraping...sams car dont go over bumps with people in it :D

...did I say it looked good tho? winkeye

i do, i think :? but i have a knocking noise on the front now. This noise was already there before, but with the extra drop it's a bit louder now. So thats going to need looking at.

All i can think of is track rod ends as all the rest is brand new. But i'll check i've done all the lowering properly again! Tis only on drivers side

Looks great.

Reckon the front end needs to come down a bit to match the back though... but could you drive it with 80mm fronts on...? I think you'd struggle!

Its 60/40! not 60/60.

Its not council at all, its a proper suspension setup.

hambags! that drop on the rear is not 40 for sure, going by the 35mm springs i'd say it's more like a 50/50 drop.

To my eyes anyway

Are your subframe bushes ok?

With Powerflex bushes at the back you get a proper 40mm drop.

my sub frame had new bushes in june, infact every bush was changed then, wishbones, topmounts, drop links, gearbox, prop, diff bush, control arms, engine mounts, shocks, need i go on!

it's all only done 10,000miles so it's all still fresh!

just track rod ends left and ones knackered anyway

the rest i have put in my photo gallery thread if your that interested

http://www.e30zone.co.uk/modules.php?na ... 473#247473

Also now they have been on a few days i've had a play!

Corner speeds can border on mental is how i put it, i'm the next trip to the ring will be even more fun with these puppies on board.

Speed humps and kerbs have been no problem.

Rear wheels rub occasionally. And no more heavy loads in the boot or rear passengers anymore! Maybe with the bbs rims back on, but not for now!

I think it looks it looks spot on now.

I knew you would like the handling with these.

The Silver Alpina is also having Bilstien inverted shocks all rounfg with Cup kit springs. Owner wants this done to bring it a bit clser back to standard Alpina spec as they also used the invertted billies.

they are loads of money and the best! auto adjust on bump and rebound! therefore they match exactly to any spring u fit.

life time warranty so when they wear out free re-build!

u can get them from Sal or ECP

ECP sell them for Ԛ£150 each for the front. and Ԛ£90 each for the rears. not cheap i know!
