i turned my alarm off and the doors and boot unlocked, now i think at this stage the c/l relay has failed as nothing locks from the alarm but the alarm still arms up.Now i can't lock any of the doors or boot because the car appears to be deadlocked open if that makes any sense

deadlocked open? that's a neat trick
have you done the red wire in the drivers door loom? Mine worked ok, then intermittently failed & the red wire had completly corroded in the multipin nylon plug - this came about shortly after a speaker fitment, so it gave me clue. soldered up and has been peachy ever since

Swapping like for like mate, have got the old one out, will probably have to wait till next weekend to fit the replacement as I need a water pipe (plastic part on below the inlet manifold)
It's been an experience, if nothing else!
Pacerpete's was an auto so the difference in the flywheel assembly is puzzling me a little. Once the clutch is removed would I just swap the flywheel onto the replacement?

yes indeed ^ but use locktight or threadlock on the flywheel bolts when you put them back in

Plus add a spigot bearing, or the gearbox will have short life!baggimodo wrote:
