Have had my BBTB for about 6 months and it does make a big difference to the overall running of the engine.
Engine revs cleaner and seems to have a few extra ponies in the right places.
For the money you would be silly not too, great mod and Ian is a top bloke too, very helpfull and has forgotten more about e30's than most will ever know.
When you compare the std and the BBTB you'll see exactley what has been done and it makes just makes sense too do it.

It's the standard throttle body bored out to give an extra 16% or so extra air in, new seals and a larger butterfly flap.
More air in, more power out, but as it's only slight increase it doesn't effect the running or need anything changed to cope with the extra.
Gives the engine a whole new life, very worth while mod indeed.

Here's before and after for info- new one on the left. My car seem to rev much freer with the BBTB and is more relaxed at cruising.

There are a few options these days.
As for the chips, email ant@e30zone.co.uk I think Ԛ£55 or Ԛ£60, but when you stick it in, you'll be

Got one on my 318iS and it's superb. Well engineered and made a great difference.

Standard on left, BBTB on right (used so a little dirty)

Guys, for the record, the e30zone sponsored 325 racer runs a zone chip and BBTB exactly the same as supplied to you guys from here.
The track is often the place to acid test mods because of the variation in demand on the engine and the combination of the bbtb and chip has proven to be superb. The engine pulls more smoothly throughout the range and pulls noticably harder in third and 4th on the racer. It's a well known fact that the M20 is restricted by lack of air getting in, and you WILL see and feel a diffference on even a basic engine.
Looks like the new site hasn't got the stats on the conversion posted, so I will ask Steve if he can dig them out and post here.

Ben - If the engine sounds revvy it's not really something a bbtb will make any difference to. My guess is that if you have a performance exhaust or similar then it will sound worse than it is anyway. The real benefit of the bbtb is in how well the engine will pull when you put your foot down and also when running at higher revs the engine isn't going to be choked for air quite as much. It's a bit like the Tunes advert!! "Helps you breath more easily"BenE30 wrote:Will it make my M20 engine seem a little bit less revvy at cruising speeds? sometimes i feel like i am only in 3rd when doing speeds of aaound 80-90 think i will be in the market for one are they DIY or does someone need to tune it or something?? sorry for sounding dumb!

Anybody have some charts from the dyno?
Horsepower and torque comparisons from before and after?
Gonna keep this on my mind for the future.

another Q about the BBTB, can i put it into an automatic, and will it increase the fuel consumption a lot?

If you look in FAQs you'll see a before and after dyno graph. That was my car and although it's a 2.7 it is also an automatic. You just need to swap over the automatic TPS to the new body. Easy job. Didn't change my fuel consumption. Just filled up yesterday and showed 29.7mpg after a trip to the west country and back plus a little town driving on top.
