Hi guys.

Right, I've been trying to get my roof working, and had some great advice from some of you guys, but I've done the following and still cannot get it to operate. Any suggestions would be most welcome.

1. checked the 30amp fuse.
2. replaced the bent raising rod, which is when it stopped working.
3. fitted a new repair plate that tends to break. I dscovered that this was catching on the opening sequence (manual).
4. greased everything up and it works opening and closing all the way. (manual again).

having read the wiki and the solution offered there..
5. I closed the roof fully, turned on the ignition and then pushed the front bar away, to open the roof from the screen.
6. At this point, I re-engaged the main roof motor, which slipped in, so I guess the splines are matched up (see pic below)

7. Next, I pushed in the horseshoe motor.

The first image shows it in position

And this pic shows the little slot in the plate all matched up too.

I can't seem to get any movement (clockwise or anticlockwise) to lock the horseshoe down (done through the hole in the pic above with all the scratches around it).

I guess both motors are synchronised?

At this stage, all the info I have read suggests it should now work when operated through the switch on the dash..... Not for me.

I can't hear anything - no clicking of the microswitches or the motors operating.

If I try to open/raise the rear part of the roof so that I can see what's happening in the storage compartment, I can only lift the rear up through about 20-30 degrees. Obviously, the motors are now engaged and stopping the movement?

Any ideas? All advice is gratefully received!

Thank you.

:D

PS. I try to operate the roof, with the boot closed!!! :D

That's the one on the left hand side of the roof compartment?

That's a very good point, Will. I thoroughly sprayed all the moving joints with grease, so some could have gone over this connector. If I recall it's only a small piece of bent metal that sticks up from its location...

I'll have a look, it could (fingers crossed) account for why the motors aren't kicking in when they should.

Thanks very much.

Cool. Thanks Willnz. I will certainly have a look at this asap and get back, hopefully with a massive Hurray! :D

Big Bollicks!!! :x

I cleaned the microswitch and could hear it clicking when I was doing that. It obviously pushes down onto a rubberised on/off switch.

However, once I push the horseshoe down it engages the locking mech, but because it's now down I cannot see if it actually makes contact with the micro switch.

I went through the sequence as described above and the stupid thing still failed to do anything.

Where next do you think ?
