Hi,
I have a 1990 H play 325i convertible that has the Pre facelift chrome bumpers. Can anyone explain how to remove the front bumper? I have looked at the wiki but it seems to be for facelift cars rather than the three piece chrome bumpers with the rubber in the middle.
Thanks for your help

2 Bumper mounts at the front, which can be undone from underneath and behind the bumper. Then 1 on either side of the wing behind the arch lining.
Spray some WD40 on all of the plastic arch liner nuts and leave them to soak, else they will snap and you'll only have 1 nut holding in the arch liner
Ask me how I found that out...
To remove the arch lining, there are 2 nuts at the front of the wheel, then 2 at the top of the arch, then one ar the rear from memory. Undo them all and remove.
You can remove just the front ones and get your hand behind there to undo the screw/bolt/nut for the bumper but it takes a few minutes to remove the arch lining and you can visual inspect up and behind there as well as clean any craap out.
Take extra note of the passenger side arch at the top by the bulk head
Once you have undo the bumper, it should slide forward, if you do have someone at hand, get them to help and unplug the indicators else you'll be trying to balanace the bumper on your knee and one hand whilst undoing the connectors

Thanks for the info....the reason for doing this, is I need to remove the drivers side front wing to inspect for rust. I have found rust at the bottom of the windscreen near where the wing joins under where the bonnet closes. Managed to put my finger thought the rust.....so concern is that the rust will be down in the bulkhead and inner wings!!
Can I just use the rest of the wiki to remove a wing considering its Pre facelift?

Errmm, wing is attached along the top.
2 x 8mm bolt/nuts inside the wing at the back by the door hinges
1 x something holding it at the bottom, usually an allen key fixing but sometimes different if previously been removed, then at the front around the light area, 1 8mm there too... Think that its, should pop off then. I'd get both sides off though, and expect the worst

For easier access, I'd remove the front grille too. Two minute job. Saves considerably more in return.
'88 325i M20, could've done with a sunroof.

Surely you don't have to scrabble about underneath to do the front mounts?Jim320i wrote:2 Bumper mounts at the front, which can be undone from underneath and behind the bumper. Then 1 on either side of the wing behind the arch lining.
Just flick out the two square covers on the black trims aside the indicators (visible below) and you'll find a single 13mm nut each side. Simples and a damn site easier .....
