Picked this up at the weekend. Laser Blue 325ix switchable auto 4 door. 1990, 51k miles. 12 months MOT.

First 18 years of it's life in the South of France, did 29500 kms during this period. Came to Scotland and then had about 45000 Kms put on it in 2 years. Lots of history, probably a FSH when I put it all together. Over 10k in receipts the last 10 years.

Been owned by a BMW specialist mechanic the last 18 months. 2 recorded owners. Original paint has a few scratches and stonechips.

Looked over it on a ramp for 30 mins and didn't find a single piece of rust.

Apparently the 4wd grip is amazing, Ferguson 4 wd system, cruises past Discos in the snow and ice apparently.

I've got 3 coupes and a convertible.

Now, I broke rule 3 - Rule one is 6 cylinders, Rule 2 is no Tourings, Rule 3 is no moredoors but I've relaxed it on this occasion. :D

How glad am I that I kept those immaculate bottletops. I knew they'd come in handy eventually

How do you pronounce 'either'? I say 'either', but some say 'either'. Either is correct.

autos are great in the snow. No harsh acceleration as you pull away. Simple.

Very cool - there's a very similar one just come up in N Ireland for £6.5k which I think is a bit rich myself. But they are rare and getting rarer I suppose..

I'm going for this look when I'm driving it.

14's help in the snow... practice wherever possible, use a progessive turn in & keep throttle input to a minimum. Don't fight the wheel, let your turn in and attitude/balance dictate what you do with the front end. initiate a turn and steer from the rear with tiny throttle inputs and counter with tiny 'opposite lock'. With this said, when you feel the front end bite, you can flick it when necessary with sharp inputs. Braking is not an option to get you out of trouble, braking will only allow you to let you set the car up.. In essence, you need to know your plan 5 car lengths in advance.. You'll get the 'feel' for it in no time, but most importantly!

Aye it is. Ritchie is thinking of selling his and I'm first in queue. :)

Been reading up on them and the drivetrain is all different apparently. E34 had two versions as well.

Interesting, seems like my advice was poor.

Dec 20th meet at the peak of the Drumochter pass. I'll bring the Bovril !

Don't think so, first ones were 1988 according to what I've read.

I ran an E30 in the winter when I was in my early 20s, it was a 320i but needed the obligatory 3x2 concrete slab in the boot and it was still tough to control.

If you are running your E30 in the snow, get snow tyres. Tedswagon on here did and said they were amazing.

Aye and me and Colin won't be so happy if we burst a transfer box or something equally unfindable/expensive. Still, you only live once. :)

I had planned on putting snow tyres on the style 15 wheels, but they are slightly wider than the standard bbs. So probably not the brightest idea! I've used snow socks before so might get another set. They are brilliant!

I'll contribute to that, I'm sitting on a few different wheel types. You start, I'll chime in when you've got some momentum.
