alfa gt coupe 1.9 jdt
Moderator: martauto
need to buy a diesel hack for work. tired of looking at the usual focus/astra types. after something abit different.
anyone have any experience of these? engines meant to be good and build quality is not too bad either.
what they like to live with?

not sure that they do the 2.4 diesel in the GT range. They do either the 8v or 16v JTD engine (the 'm' on the end denotes the 16v version).
Based on a 147 (cabin architecture, engines, WIRING etc) although I think the chassis is a modified 156?
Electrical problems will be the main gremlin. Ran a 147 for 3 years from 2002 and I loved it. If you can live with the foibles, you'll love the character of an Alfa.
Hope this helps...

not that it's all that much help, but my dad had three 156s (which mechanically are very similar to the gt) and currently has a 2.4jtd spider.
i always liked the 156s, they drive very nicely, feel nice and sporty without being overly harsh. lovely quick steering too.
he didnt have any issues with any of his, and they certainly havent put him off alfas
i'd have a gt too, i think they look great and are surprisingly practical, having a big hatchback boot.

I'm going to look at one Thursday. it's got satnav, heated leathers, cruise control and a whole lot of other options. it's done 120k but with good history so unsure.

Every petrolhead should own at least one Alfa, even if it is an oil burner....
Youth is wasted on the young.
I had more than one........
12 Alfasuds, a couple of 33;s, two 164's, three 75's (1.8, 2.0TS and a 3.0 V6), two Giuliettas (the eighties 116), two Arnas
, an Alfetta 1.6GT and a GTV6.
Always fancied an Alfa 90, gloriously rubbish but glorious all the same.

my dads had a few, 6 suds, 2 33s, a 146, 3 156s and his current spider, and an e30 between the second 33 and the 146.
closest i've come was the delta integrale. i guess i'm not a proper petrolhead

I take it you mean the 3 litre GTV? I occasionally get perverse urges for one of those. Are they worth the risk?Andyboy wrote:and a GTV6.

Ah, yeah, should have figured that out.. The 3.0 V6 in the new one is decent though, I think?
