I had my car resprayed a few months ago and they did quite a bad job. It was done abroad while me and the mrs were visiting family. Her dad recommended some one and took it there to be done. I thought it would be a proper shop with a proper filtered oven but no. It was done in a dusty garage with only polythene sheets pulled around it. So you can imagine the outcome. There are dust specks in places and holes where the laquer hasn't adhered properly. Also, I can sometimes see sanding lines but I don't think anything can be done about that.
Is there anyway of fixing these problems with a touch up kit?
Thanks everyone.

You could try talking it to a reputable valeter and getting a full machine polish. If will surprise you how well then cay bring bad paint back to life.
PM KOS on here, he knows his stuff about paint correction and he will be able to tell you what can and can't be done.

Dust specks will come out with a rub over with 2000 grit paper and a cutting compound polish

Could you get any pics up?
Agree, would like to see how the sanding lines look and the condition of the lacqurecypriot_boy_2k7 wrote:Could you get any pics up?
depending where the dust is (in the paint or in the clear) then you can probably flat the clear and polish/buff. That would also sort out the sanding marks/swirls if done correctly.
The 'holes' in the clear sounds like silicon spots which is generally caused by contamination (either in the air, equipment or on the surface) which if it was done in a bodge set up is no wonder.
Get a local bodyshop or detailer to take a look at it as they will be able to offer better advice, especially if able to see it in person.

not necessarily, the DA or sanding marks could be below the base coat, in which case you're buggeredJM2012 wrote:depending where the dust is (in the paint or in the clear) then you can probably flat the clear and polish/buff. That would also sort out the sanding marks/swirls if done correctly.

Hi Kos.
I thought as much. Luckily they are not as visible as the dust specks everywhere.
Do you reckon it's possible to sand them down with high grit sand paper and then polish.
Also, I have these lacquer pits where the lacquer hasn't adhered properly. Can I build them back up with some touch up lacquer and a brush and then sand and polish?
I still need to take some pictures for everyone to see what I'm talking about.
Thanks for your help.

The laquer pits you can deal with, build up the laquer, nib it down and polish it
If you have preparation marks which are below the paint, then there is nothing you can do

Great, I'll deal with the lacquer pits first. I'll sand those specks as well, hopefully they are only in the lacquer. I guess I will just have to live with the sanding lines. Although I am sure I can feel some of them with my nail. Do you reckon I should just sand the whole car or is that amount of sanding best left to the professionals?
It is a job you can do if your confident enough just take your time use 2000 grit paper, pleanty of water and take your time. It's a lot of slow rubbing you just have to keep at it.

I'd Avoid wet sanding the whole car you have no way of telling how much laquer is on there with out measuring with a paint depth gauge
Do the spots re asses and go from there
