At the risk of p***ing people off who have given me info on this subject over the months... I need some more..

Am I right in saying that the central locking system consists of :

Control module(door pillar)
Solenoid(each door etc)
Microswitch(front doors) x2

...and thats it. Because I,ll be damned if I can get anything to even make a noise never mind activate.
Got a replacement module but still no improvement. Its strange because with the multiplug disconnected there is a full 12v on the feed in for the module, plug the module in and it drops to less than 2v. somethings drawing it down but not drawing any noticeable current. It probably is my luck and Ive got a bum replacement but Im just wondering if the twonk that pulled the system apart when the locking failed discarded something else in the process. I cant see anything else on the schematics.

Are you familiar with "the red/black wire" modification?

Sorry about that Brian, just clicked on the link and found it. I,ll give it a try. If no joy I,ll just plumb for another module. No alternative.
Cheers

Locking ECU modules only very rarely fail on their own.
Most failed ones have either been flooded, as a result of blocked sill drains, or have had their (supposed to be non resettable) internal 'fuse' blown by a faulty actuator or mechanism severely lacking lubrication.

Took this spare one apart. fuse is intact. wish to god I had been around when the muppets were let loose on it at the local garage. Thing is, there isnt much for them to have messed with.
Thanks for the help.
