That's a long commute!! Makes a working day rather long

Only a months worth of driving so unless you have problems every month then you should be fine! Anyway it's all motorway and probably only 4hrs drive :)

Longest journey I did in mine was Norwich to Paris, approx 350 miles, although did have an hour or so break on the ferry.

Norwich to north Wales was also 300 odd miles.

Sadly it was out of action with a broken gearbox when we went to Scotland, so the 400 miles were done in the mrs' Astra coupe.
cheers,

harry

Due to our company merging with another, no longer get to use work vans. So now every site job we havw to use own cars, looks like investing in some diesel........e30 going strong on motorway :)

Ach that's nothing, I did Glasgow - Silverstone - Guildford - Scarborough - Glasgow in 19 hours one day in my 325i touring - 956 miles.

Didn't miss a beat, did cost a lot in fuel though.

Did Glasgow - Swansea - Glasgow one Sunday too, in the 325i to buy an e36.

Did Preston-Brighton one day, followed by Brighton-Dover and Dover-Adenau (at the Nurburging) following day. A week spent at the 'ring, some 20-odd laps and then the same return trip. In an E-Reg, boggo 320i I paid under £600 for. Never missed a beat!

At the risk of sounding like a broken record... LPG will be your friend. Even a full on professional drive in -drive out installation will pay back in about 10,000 miles. But the smug grin at the pump starts well before then :)

Since my "mini resto" I've done a couple of "big" trips in my E30, both to the annual meting of the Spanish E30 owners club, over both trips I covered about 1700 miles (850 each more or less) and the worst thing that has happened was the pasenger wing mirror glass dropping out on the motorway ! (I saw it come loose and my wife rescued it in a valient "hand out of the window at high speed" manoeuvre!).

On the firt trip I averaged 8.4 litres / 100 kms (33 mpg)
On the second trip I only managed 9.3 litres (30 mpg).... I blame the arrival of a fat baby for the decrease in eficiency of the car....
These are sensations as hard to forget as they are to ignore.....

I drove an e30 i had just bought that was a few miles from John O'groats down to Edinburgh in the middle of winter at night.
If your cars in good order should be a breeze.

Yep, I drove my current car from Honiton in Devon up to North Yorkshire when I bought it. I stayed overnight near Banbury though - by the time the vendor had found the keys it was nearly dark!
