kk as above i have done a m20 conversion. The problem is the donar car the previous guy has cut the loom off at the coil. It is a 83 m20 with the coil on the passenger side wing and she has the distributer going down into the block like the never engines. So my problem is the coil has 4 wire rising up a thick green a thick black a light smaller green and a small dirtyer green, my question is what goes where when it comes to the coil?
also i was for asking on the loom from the m20 donar car at the ecu well 6inches away on the wires is a 3pinned plug i have searched everywhere on my 318i for a plug below the steering colm for this to go into but there is none. on the doner car it is just going into the cars loom, my question is what is this and will it effect my car and cause it not to start?
the car has a factory fitted alarm and it is locking and unlockin the car as it should so im hoping this rules out imobiliser.
all help apprechated thanks in advance
help pls m10 to m20 conversion

The part that is gettin to me is the car was going before I took engine out now I'm using a 6cylinder coil
I was on this site bout 5 years ago and was it a guy brian? Somethin he told me to swop 2 wires in behind the glove box that did away with the imobiliser. I went to see if I could see the 2 wires but had no joy. Prevously the car was at mot and the 1.8 engine stoped when was gettin towed home the alarm went off so I unplugged it as it flattened the battery. Coullld thiss effected the car. Its open and closin on the fob though!!

If everything is wired up so far, then run a power wire from the battery to the coil (pin 15). This should activate the ignition circuits and bypass any wiring in the cabin.
If you try and start the car now, and it runs, you can then work backwards along the green wire to identify where the problem lies.
All the testing procedures are here:

Three options:
1) make a bridge loom, which requires cutting the two corresponding halves of the C101 plugs that you need and joining them together;
2) cutting both C101 plugs off and wiring the looms together permanently
3) finding a third-party 20-pin socket, cutting the C101 plugs off and replacing them with that.
The pinouts for both types of C101 socket are here:
