Are the service indicator lights working properly?

Yep they are all fine. I thought it maybe the wiring fault, is it expensive to get sorted?

Thanks

The only thing that normally goes wrong with the rev. counter is the batteries failing on the older version of the service indicator circuit board inside the instrument cluster.
Check that the 20 pin C101 plug and socket for the engine loom (next to the fusebox) is screwed together properly.

Sorry to jump into this discussion, but I have a similar problem I hope someone can answer. Specifically, I have fitted a Shift-I shift light to my car, and now when the RPM hits about 5000, the tachometer goes haywire, bounces between 0 and 5000 rpm for a bit, then drops to zero...

It is at this point that the shift-I light starts to activate. The shift light is wired to the coil and it is my suspicion that as the shift light begins to illuminate, it sends a return signal to the coil and this in turn is interfering with the tacho (which as I understand, gets it signal through the ECU).

The car runs a Motronic 1.3 ecu.

A link to the Shift-I should anyone be unsure what I am talking about;

Can anyone comment on why I might be receiving an interference signal?

Cheers,
Michael.
