Hi all,
I'm looking at a 318is on Monday and in the add the guy has written 'the seal between the gearbox and prop needs replacing' I'm assuming he means the prop shaft coupling? Or possibly the gearbox end bearing seal?
What else could it be?
He's going to call tonight but thought I'd post it and get some ideas.

Thanks Tom

i'd assume that he means the output shaft seal need replacement; however leaks from that area of the gearbox can be caused by the selector rod seal.

Almost certainly just the selector rod seal directly above the output shaft, but there's no need to tell the vendor that!

Brilliant thanks chaps, picking it up Monday and I'm sure I'll be asking for more knowledge very soon. Will post some pics when (if) I get her home. Ta
