Was there much difference between a 318ti and say a 316se?

About 40bhp, ti's had rear disk set up too.

is it just the engine? thought they were both 1.9!

later ones were both 1.9s
the 318ti had a twin cam 16v engine, the 316i was either a 1.6 or 1.9 8v

I had a E36 318ti for a while, fantastic little car. Highly recommended.

Finally promoted to Regular! Only took 7 years...

They came out in 1994 on the M, 1600 8 valve 316i and 1800 16 valve 318Ti. The 318Ti went to the Z3 16v 1.9 engine in early 1996 and the 316i got the E46 1.9 8v engine in late 1998.
