Hello Ladies

Can anyone advise me on the best way to adjust my handbrake.

I have replaced the rear disks and handbrake shoes but I cant seem to get the handbrake to adjust up. Its either not effective enough or too tight causing binding.

Any idiots guides?

E39 hand brakes are total crap anyway.

Why did it fail? Was it too many clicks or not efficient enough?

loosen the cables in the car, then through one of the wheel bolt holes at the back turn the little cog with a small screw driver, Adjust till the wheel locks then back of a turn. With this done on both sides adjust the cables.

Procedure is exactly the same.
There's nothing wrong with ANY BMW handbrake IF shoes that haven't already been ruined by misadjustment are adjusted correctly with the cables completely slack.
