Yes easy enough as long as you are over 21, have a garage and a second car.
Currently I pay £68 a year for an 89 325i cabby. 31 Years old, limited to 3K miles per year. Garaged in a low risk area.
That is via surestream direct. I bouught the policy via Quidco Compare a comarrision search engine.
I was previously with Lancaster before that with the same conditions for approx £110 per year.

thank for the info guys cheers
If your car is standard Pete Best seem to be the cheapest & you don't have to have a garage.
You were allowed mods? I was told it had to be standard and unrestored!spook wrote:180 with Pete Best, all mods declared, ltd milage, 5k agreed value, phone em mate.
had e30s insured with pete best and carol nash, i paid £150 for the 325i sport fully comp
carol nash policy on a 318is, and was down as "being restored" ie all the work i did to it
with classic policy, the milage you state can make a big difference, and also if its a 2nd car, they only go up to 5k miles, which isnt really enough for a daily driver only car owned

I've always wondered... if you go over the annual mileage, what actually happens?
Ive never heard of anyone getting charged extra for going over the agreed mileage

always wondered that myself, big difference with my 325i difference between 5000 and 1500 miles, so i did 1500 as i only drove it for 3 months before sorning it, and also as the batteries had corroded in the original clocks (which were in the boot) and it had different ones in, when i mot it it will have the original in
i think i read on here before, people who had gone over and had accidents, had to pay the extra they went over by, although if you say had it insured for 2000 miles say and did 6000 by next mot..and went to renew, what would happen ?

I pay around £200 a year for my 1986 325i, 25 year old.
It was limited to 3000 miles until I added my 1988 Austin Maestro for a few quid more, which allowed both vehicles on unlimited mileage. Also the added benefit of full European coverage and breakdown cover.

Very odd that then, mines 24 this year and a 325i.All vehicles must be at least 26 years old
BMW’s restricted to a maximum engine capacity of 2.0L
1982 316 with a 325 engine. £214 pa, limited to 5000 miles (which I'm 35 miles short of doing with 10 weeks to go - need to increase it/renew).
However, that is fully declared: race suspension, fully stripped, caged, LSD etc etc.
I guess being as old as I am helps a little (well over 2x the age of the car). At the time I took the policy out, my other car was a company car which I have since bought, so maybe that might be better when I renew? ClassicLine.

That's not a bad price with mods declared. I've got to shop around once my 2.5 316 is ready for the road which might be a pain since it's had so much work done to it now.

The website says no such thing. It just says that those are the conditions for a simple online quote. If you car doesn't meet those requirements, you fill in and submit a more complex form.Kedge wrote:E30123 wrote:Peter best website is saying for classic insurance, the car has to be over 26 yrs and max 2.0L![]()

I'm with Footman James on a multi-vehicle classic policy. Unlimited mileage and full business use. My E34 525i tourer is a 95 and classed as a future classic being between 15 and 20 yrs old, so is at market value. My 320i is an 89, so being over 20 yrs old is valuation agreed. Have to be over 25, but you can have up to 9 named drivers over 25 for no extra!
peter best charged me £430 ish, I have a second car. Im limited to 5k miles per year (not sure how many i do). All mods are declared, engine, suspension and brakes. Included is euro cover and euro breakdown cover and an agreed value of 7G.
I thought it was a good deal. Im 35 but if I wanted to insure as my first car the best quote i got was £2500
and thats with it garaged and with an imobilser and alarm.
I do live within the m25 thought which gets extra tax for everything.
