Wanting to fix a sump guard on my 325 as the sump is only 4 fingers off the floor. Not ideal.
There is a seller on here selling aluminium ones for 80 quid, he says you might want to cut air holes in it to get cool air onto the sump.
My question is, if the 325i has an oil cooler, is there much point of drilling holes in the sump guard to get a bit of air onto it?
Sump guard

I run one of RPM's steel guards on my track 325i. It has 16 x 1" holes in it (approx size). Temps are never above 85deg C on track and a lot lower on the road. Not sure what they'd be if it didn't have the holes in it.
Mine's a prefacelift so had to drill an additional hole in the front. Wasn't a big deal to be honest. Unfortunately, I do have to remove the guard to change oil as it is pretty close to the sump plug. I guess I could try one of those plugs which have a tap included and see if it's possible to attach a pipe to drain it. However, TBH, it's not a major problem to remove the guard as it also gives a chance to check other bits'n'bobs down there.
Somehow, I also had a hole that I didn't need. Despite having the guard on almost since it was built, I found a tiny crack in the front of the sump
I've had it ally-welded and all seems OK now, but an added advanatge of a sump guard is that you can check how much is being lost. Thankfully, all is dry now
