Hi all -

Ive done a search and drew a blank - so here goes:

1987 325i 4 door

Red/black wire mod done

Basically all works fine on drivers door - all 4 doors/boot and petrol flap lock and open with key and door button.
But when using the passenger door/boot lock all doors except drivers will lock for 1 second then shoot back open again.

Ive tried different actuators in drivers door - but this has made no difference.

Any thoughts?

Cheers

The locking ECU thinks the driver's door is not shut, so unlocks everything.
The mechanism must move slightly further when assisted by the key than when worked by the lock motor alone, so make sure the linkage is lubricated properly, and try adjusting the lock motor slightly in its slotted mounting holes.

thanks Brian,

will give the mech. a look over later in the week.

The other thing i noticed is that the passenger door lock operates the locking - but the passenger door button has no effect.
Surely the passenger door button should operate the system?

That's how it should be. Pushing down the pin on the passenger door should only lock that door, not the rest of the locks.

Just got back to this fault today -

A wire in the drivers door harness wasnt seating properly when the loom was pushed in. So gave it a prod with a small screwdriver and hey presto, all works now!!

Sods law would have it that i had the drivers door in bits before i looked at the loom connection

Thanks Brian fot the help.
