Bit of a strange one this folks.

had to hold the car on a hill (stuck in traffic) with the hand brake & when I pulled off (& let the handbrake off) after a short while of going along the road the handbrake lever snapped up a click & then back down again followed by a grinding noise.

it did this a couple of time's & just as I was pulling into my road the grinding noise started again & the lever snapped up a click & back down again followed by a knocking sound from the back wheel's.

anybody got any idea's what this could be??

I'm really hoping it ain't the LSD as I can't afford a new one right now.

any idea's & advise would be a massive help.
if it's got t*ts or wheels it's bound to be trouble...............prove me wrong.

Sounds like a handbrake shoe has come adrift, probably ripped its securing pin out of a corroded backplate.

Agree.

Mansfield area has a few more hill start possibilities than deepest Lincolnshire!

indeed it does malc, far too many lol (bolsover to be exact)

Well it look's like it's time to get a new handbrake fitting kit & shoes & a new cam for it as it was the cam that had snapped.

oh well just make sure I don't stop on hill's lol.
