ABS light question?

Hi can anyone tell if the ABS light is meant to go out when ignition is left turned on? This light only goes out after engine starts the car is 1990 325i sport, thanks

Light should stay on until the engine is started.

Ok thats what i was thinking, its just the mot guy failed the car cause he reckons it is wired in with the batt light, thanks again :D

What a dick, does he "reckon" or does he know? If he only "reckons" surely he cant fail it?

He cant just make it up as you go along :mad:

In any case, all the tester is required to do is to confirm that the light follows the correct sequence of operation for the vehicle in question. It's no concern of his why it follows the sequence, just that it does.
It's also no concern of the tester as to whether the ABS works or not.

I know you guys are correct in what your saying but this MOT dick failed the car for it, reason is he's not long threw his training and i reckon he was trained with the working of modern ABS systems and not the older type like the E30's, i am taking the car up tomorrow morning again myself to see the manager and get it sorted there and then, thanks for all the replys :D

While you're there, point out to him the place in the training where it says something along the lines of " if in doubt, it passes." He's required to look up the correct sequence for the light, and if he can't find it, then it's to be assumed to be correct.
