I might actually look into knocking a few up and see how they sell,
Because I can't find any company in the UK that offer these "off the shelf"

Looks cracking.

Just an idea....Is there enough room in the E30 bay to mount the turbo underneath?

Like this E36 build, im guessing moved further forward for an E30 though otherwise you would have clearance issues with the steering linkage.

Maybe worth a look with a tape measure, ive got quite a lot of room even with a chunky M30 in there.
Another good point is you could show off some bananas. :)

Let me know a price if you decide to. If it's cheaper than the vac/666fab piece I could be interested :)

Looking good so far!

When we were building the manifold, we did have thoughts of putting the turbo down the bottom, and forward to the front of the engine then shoot the downpipe straight out between the steering linkage and the block,
but I decided against it,
Simply because I wanted to see it when I opened the bonnet, 8)
It would physically fit, and yeah there's enough room,
infact way more than putting it at the top due to the angle the M50 sits at.
But I do prefer it where it is :)

well having seen that manifold do you reckon you make a "replica" winkeye of an RD (racing dynamics) 6 branch for an M20B27??

if so how much?? lol.

goodluck with the build i'm keeping an eye on this thread.
if it's got t*ts or wheels it's bound to be trouble...............prove me wrong.

Hadn't looked for a little while, but looks like you are right. Not for sale on vac any more either and they were 666 jobbies.

What sort of prices do you have in mind?

Will do mate, should have prices worked out over the weekend,

As far as the project goes, its virtually done, I can see the light,
Iv got a few little bit I need to buy, just wondering if anyone can tell me the best to get :)

Spark plugs? Standard?
Dumpvalve/ BOV?
Oil, what sort of grade and brand would be best suited?

And after iv bought that lot, I think it's time to turn the key

That's the intercooler I bought mate, it looks like the guy isn't selling them anymore (might be worth sending him an email? )
if that fails, the size/dimensions of it is in the title

Obviously it took some cutting of the car and I had to make a couple of little brackets for it to sit on,
but like you say, it's a perfect fit, especially for the routing of the boost pipes

And yeah, I thought all my birthdays had came at once when the vems re-appeared :D

Little update,

I turned the key for the first time last week,
unplugged the ecu so i could build the pressure up span over perfectly,
plugged in the ecu re connected the battery,
turned the key......

Fuel pump primed
ICV buzzed
(did a sex wee)

went to start it and nothing :(

it was just spinning and spinning

so checked i had fuel, check!
checked there was fuel at the rail, check!
pulled a plug to see if it was wet/damp, negative!
checked to see if i had a spark, negative!

which pointed towards the crank sensor,
so that came out, but it but up a damn good fight!!! which I won by smashing it to bits :D

the new on is on order and hopefully will be here tomorrow

so once i get that plugged in im hoping it will start,

i'v checked the log on the vems for anything untoward and found this...

Image

but dont have a clue what that means,
i realy need to get to grips with this software because i havnt got a clue how it works

Well Wednesday has been and gone and still no crank sensor :(

the guy at BMW says it's going to be another 10 days!!
I could drive to Germany and back......... quite a few times in 10 days

So I'm just going to get the Bosch one from GSF
it shouldn't be that different from the Siemens one..should it? apart from the price.

Why have they said it will take 10 days? Have you tried cotswold or a decent second hand one?

Don´t mind those messages. It´s just saying that one gauge that can be configured doesn´t have a description written for it yet.
With great challenges comes great engineering.

There on "back order" apparently,
I rang 2 different BMW depo's up here and they both said there wasn't any in the country, Cotswold would just say the same i reckon mate,

the one from GSF should be here tomorrow,
and as long as it plugs in and makes the car start, i'll be a happy man.

Right ok, cheers dude

so if there was any other errors, would they show up on that log screen?

Anyone got any ideas?

I'm a bit stumped at the moment

I thought with the new crank sensor being in, i would get fuel to the plugs and a spark
but im only getting fuel and no spark,

I'v loaded what i think are the log files from the Vems up onto the vems forum,
But i dont know if they are what people need to see,
because i aint got a clue what any of it means

I hope i dont need to change any of the setting on the vems,
I know i'll fook it up

Come on, lets get this thing going....

Get a test light on the coils and see if the ECU is firing them

Just done that before mate,
wire into the end connector,
light earthed,
ignition on,
light glowed,
turned it over but the light just stayed constant, no pulsing,
infact its not pulsing on any of the 3 connections on the coils

I'v Just been out to double check the timing, just incase it might of been out by a tooth or something,

but its spot on,
so thats that crossed off the list also.

What about the cam sensor?
I read that if they were "iffy"the engine would still run but be lumpy as....?

The trigger for the coils is a pulse earth, so put the back end of your test light to the +

Does VEMs not have a page where it shows the signals from all sensors? Then you could check which signal VEMs is not getting
