Recently i have changed the two doors on my car due to vandals destoying the locks on my car, however after fitting them it became clear that the colour was not right.

As such i'm now considering getting the two doors sprayed and the car mopped.

In an effort to keep the costs down i'm only looking to spray the doors, with them then being blended into the wings.

At the same time i really need to replace the rear drivers side Arch, so planning on getting this done too, thus more spray work needed.

I have found a panel (pattern part i think) for £60 but also getting a quote from Cotswold.

So how much do you think it would cost to get the rear arch fitted and then sprayed along with two doors?

Thanks in advance.

Depends on where you take it, and to what standard you want it done to.

Doors can be resprayed for around £100 each.

Welding in a rear arch is very time-consuming to do properly, so don't expect it to be cheap.

At a good body shop your looking at £130-£140 or so for spraying per panel not sure about getting the rear arch fitted but it cant be more than a £70-£100 I would think...some Garages may do it cheaper if you get everything done at once.

I'd be very surprised if you can get someone to fit a new arch for just £50! At a typical labour rate of £25 per hour, they'd have to do it within 2 hours!

The £60 was the cost of the rear arch, not fitting or spraying.

So in short looking at (approx figures)
£130 x 2 = £260 - Doors Spraying
£60 - Rear Arch Panel
£60 - Rear Arch Fitting
£130 - Rear Arch Spraying

Giving a grand total of circa £510.

Think it might be an option. I was hoping for circa £350-400 for it all but that seems to be an unrealistic budget it would seem.

Anyone else got any other opinions?

That sounds realistic, you may get a discount at some places depending on how hard you haggle, best thing to do is visit a few places to get a quote keeping in mind the quality of their work.

What colour is the car?

Blending panels is not easy.

I would think more like £700 for a quality job. You could try and haggle and do the prep work ie window trim, door locks out etc to cut down on labour. One thing with paint is you get what you pay for. Find someone with a good track record.

Am in leeds, so plenty of places around and will get atleast 3 quotes. If the overall quotes are too high i will just sell the car / break it and buy another (newer) bmw.

I think your £60 estimate for the rear arch fitting is woefully low. I did a pair of rear arches on a Fiat 126 once, and it was a very arduous job to get it all lined up correctly then carefully MIG-weld it in slow, steady sections so as not to distort the panel.

Then, it would need the welds ground down, some filler to smooth it all out (which in itself can take an age to do right), then primer, more rubbing down, then paint, and finally a polish and some underguard sealant. A good couple of day's work.

to be honest you need to get both side of the car painted to make it look right, not a lot of point in painting a door only, at a guess i would think you are looking at £200.00 to have the arch fitted, i would think a total cost of £600.00

^^^ what they said

re spraying a door, and a rear arch- you cant just spray an arch-whole quarter- so that whole side is best re painted, dont skimp it wont look right, your already aware that doors dont match/look right as they are, theyl stand out even more looking new !!

whats that rear inner arch/wheel housing like ? ...once you cut the arch out, you may find more is needed, £60 never , read what speedtouch says...

Don't listen to that man! Haha.

I've just had work like this done to my car, it was £150 for rear arches choped out, new let in and filler skimmed to shape ontop he said. ( I didn't have the filler work done though as it's being done between my bro and I).

I would say,

£150-arch work
£200/250-doors
£100/150-rear quarter
£30-arch panel( all parts do it delivered for £30)

so £500-600 at a rough guess.

Thanks for your inputs guys. will need to think about it.

The car is diamond Schwarz in colour and is pretty dull hence why i thought get it painted and mopped, but considering its a 318iS i don't think its worth spending too much on, even though it does have some nice bits on it.

Pictures of the car with the new doors on....

I'd say there's no point repairing the paint. The rest of the car is looking fading (not rusty, just sun-bleached) so it'll be a proper ballache to blend in. You might as well go for a full respray if you're going to be picky about it.

If the car isn't actually rusty, it would be better to sell it on rather than strip it for bits.

That door is gloss black, the body is diamond black, find some diamond black doors dude!

There are still decent doors about and if they are still in factory paint you're laughing

Why not just change the locks over from the new doors onto the originals?

Then you could sell the two straight black doors to pay for the arch repair.

Selling it is something i am considering, apart from the rear drivers arch its not too bad on the rust front - sills etc are A ok.

The vandals destroyed not only the locks but also the metal that surrounds them, hence why i changed the doors in the first place.
