M3 seats into a convertible

Can anyone tell me if E30 M3 seats will fit into a convertible? Tried searching with no luck and there's conflicting advice on the web.

Won't fit.M3 seats are too wide for convertibles.The side panels on a vert extend into the rear passenger
compartment to accommodate the folding top mechanism.
