Hey guys. my 318i coupe had another door put on it by the previous owner and has an electric window in it. but i can't locate the wiring. someone told me it would be under the center console but i can't locate them. After coming out of the door, where do the wires go to next?

Cheers

If the car had manual windows the wiring for electric windows won't be fitted.

The factory fitted version of E30 electric windows is as close to 100% reliable as anything can be. I've never come across a failed E30 electric window, other than the odd switch needing a service.
It's a pity BMW didn't continue this reliability into later models.

I suppose your right mate. but the only way i can't wind manuals down is if I've had both arms amputated lol

Really Brian? My car came with a dead rear window mech (previous owner had taken out the motor and propped up the window with wood). Took me months to find a replacement since every car in the scrapyards had had its motors robbed already, so they must be fairly sought after for replacements.

Electric rear windows mechs. are sought after items by most four door/touring owners, as replacements for wind ups, so that could be why they were gone. They use a string arrangement, so I suppose that part has the potential for failure, but their relative lack of use compared to the fronts means that all the ones I've seen are in full working order.
I've never come across a facelift front factory electric mech. that isn't in full working order. Not to be confused with the dealer fitted version, which is gutless.
