i have a leak coming from this area isnt head gasket or rocker cover gasket had it looked at and its coming from behind distributor, is there a seal behind it that can be changed? and if its cam shaft seal does the belt need to come off to replace the seal?

Hi there, yes there is a seal behind the distributor cap (the cam shaft oil seal), but IMO they are usually reliable. Check its not the head gasket as there is a pressurised oil way that runs at that end of the head/block using the head gasket as a seal, and have a tendency to weap at the joint.

When the rocker cover is off, you will see 4 D shaped rubber bungs pressed into the head. Two at the front nearest the distributor and two nearest the firewall.

These can be prised out and replaced.

I don't have the part number to hand but do a search of the tech help forum for "D Shaped" and you'll should get the part numbers from one of Brians previous posts.

Idol the link seems to be not working; same part number as above

http://www.realoem.com/bmw/showparts.do ... g=11&fg=25

This should be what you need.
