or hopefully it'll just keep going for another 100,000!
i always said if it got to 200,000 i'd stick a new set of bigends in just for the sake of taking a peek inside, but i'm also curious to see just how long it'll keep going for with no major mechanical work.

As long as it's maintained, it should have more life left in it, give or take a vanos seal or two, than the engines in the brand new cars in the showrooms of the 'mainstream' manufacturers!

Well, it's done well then for a highly tuned engine - is that a 3.0-litre, or the 3.2?

the 3.2. still totally original as far as i can tell too. would quite like to do a compression test, but havent got one suitable for the deep plug holes.

Well, that's even better going then, as the 3.2 is reportedly a bit fragile, compared to the 3.0.

supposedly so.
admittedly the vanos is pretty growly when hot, but you can still feel it swinging into action when it's supposed to, and still pulls hard to the red line and gets thrashed regularly!
most recent photo,
and i still find it amusing that it's got the original running in instruction sticker on the windscreen

cheers,
harry

This proves, look after a BMW and it will look after you.
Keep forgeting this E36 section is down here, needs to be up the top near other BMW chat imo.

Not of these ones as theyre a bit rough and ready as only the lips have been painted, usually they'd then be masked up for gloss black centres.
The fronts are identical to this underneath though,
Rears are the same but with a slightly deeper dish.
cheers,
harry
