£150 e30 316 carb

The other day i came across this on a mates face book, he was asking £250 for in so i gave him £150, now i have it in my garage with the hope to get it back on the road!

At the moment it doens't run due to the fuel pump or possibly an after market immobiliser? it's also got a flooded interior because the sunroof leaks and its pretty rusty, everywhere. This is my first project that hasnt been on the road really so any advice or critisum is very welcome. Anyway enough of this, heres some pictures.







I'm putting a facelift front valance on because the old one is so rusty and i planon spending as little as possible and just working hard

oh and heres my daily/not daily because i'm currently swapping it to manual because i keep braking auto box's


and the work i've done so far, its more undoing though as everything needs rust treatment or a good clean!

Looks like a fair deal. Are those Ford Orion alloys in the first pics?

Check you're getting a 12V supply to the fuel pump with the ignition on. It may just be a blown fuse.

Mechanical fuel pump won't need a 12v feed or fuse but may have a split diaphragm

I think they are of a Clio? I've only got 3 it's just what it come on. I'm going to take a photo of fuel pump so maybe one of you can let me know where the problem may be?

My Haynes manual says that to test the mechanical fuel pump, disconnect the pipe from the carb and stick it in a jar, get someone to crank the starter motor and watch to check that it gives regular, well-defined spurts of fuel.

They also say it's a sealed unit, so if it's duff, you need to replace it.

tonight i managed to get all the seats out but still have to lift the carpet, under the car all feels quite soft though so im a bit nervouse about that! And I had corsa spings lying around and a set of porshe alloys, so why not?
