Brilliant. Thanks.
The connections to the two small rams in the hood please. There are two connections on each. One has two pipes, the other, one.
The connections at the rams are marked "A" and "B".
I need to know what way round they go for both rams e.g. left hand ram two pipes to B right hand ram two pipes to A.
Much appreciated. I can.post or PM photos if it helps.

Electro hydraulic power roof on early Motorsports and M3s as opposed to EM electro mechanical wiper motor offering on later cars. Really just 1989 only - once they worked out how much it cost they got the EM one working.

okay the pipes are not marked
looking from the back of the car the left ram on the right hand side is marked with B
the right ram on the right hand side is marked with A
on the left hand of the car a pipe comes up and goes to the right ram on the right hand side marked with A, this is a double union
a pipe comes from the right ram on the right hand side marked with A and goes to the left ram right hand side marked with B
on the right hand of the car a pipe comes up and goes to the left ram on the left hand side unmarked, this is a double union.

Brilliant Cliff. Thanks.
Grrrrrrrrrrrrrmachine let me know what tyou want for the Wiki and I'll get it done. I've dealt with a few of these roofs.
I'd imagine a retrofit would be a nightmare Cliff.
Parts prices are horrendous too. The control box is £2500 from the dealers!!

TBH, the most important thing is pictures. There's already a Roof page:
http://www.e30zone.net/e30zonewiki/index.php/Roof
And you can see, there's no info on the differences between manual and electric mechs either, so I need info on how all three work; essentially a Components list of all the significant parts. Photos of each mechanism is really essential, pictures being a thousand words and all that.
a full Retrofit article can wait until some sick bastard documents it.

Cool cheers gremchin
Rite I now have a problem with my eh the hood gets half way and the motor stops till I posh it a litall then it god to completion
I have found the cors it is the hidrolic line that gose to the rear of the hood catching on theicro switch that tells the ecu that the rear of the hood is up or Down
My question is wher dus this pips clip stack tO the body work
This is the position the hood stops in up or down

This is the micro switch

And this is a picture of the pip hiring the m switch

So again my question is whet to the body under the hors shop dus this be held in plas by a clip. I remember wen I took it off the over Car it had a clip holding it
