Hello All,

I thought I would share with you all some "minor" work I am having done on my C2. I have owned this car for over 10 years and because of work commitments I was unable at times to give it the TLC it rightly deserved. I decided about 1 year ago it, I was going to go for it and pile a load of cash into it and bring it back to the way it was when I brought it. So the list started with new front spoiler damaged due to speed dumps and new roof because of rust. Since then of course the list just grow massively, but the main problem I found was finding a body and spray shop that was good, gave a damn, in the south east and was interested in doing a good job because they liked the idea of it not just for the money.

I was convinced by a friend (who is into old fords Carpi's) to go and see a guy called Andy who specialised in fords but had heard about my project through my friend and was interested in do the work. Anyway after looking at Andys past work and talking to him about his passion for projects. It went with him.

He is about 3 weeks into it now and this is where he has got to.

ImageImageImageImageImageImageImageImageImageImageImage

So far Andy attention to details seems to be second to none. which i am of course very happy with. I just can't wait to see it finished. which hopefully will be in the next week or so. If you want follow what andy is doing he put photos up on his website most nights.

http://www.andysautobody.co.uk

I still have a long way to go after the body shop... new exhaust system, top end rebuild, diff and gearbox overhaul.

Does anyone know of a good exhaust specialist in the south east?

Updates to come

Gareth

This was a press car. It was featured in the December 1988 issue of Fast Lane. Tested by Russell Bulgin. If I can get my scanner to work I'll post up the whole article.

Hello, that is Amazing!, I found out from BMW nottingham that it was built as press car and Andy has told me that all the body kit has got press car written on it. But I have never been able to find any write ups about it.

New images below, should have it back by the middle of next week.

It's great to see an E30 getting the full treatment. Hat's off to you, sir - and I do hope your wallet is feeling healthy :)

mmm my wallet.... well... smaller

the work at the paint shop is at the better side of £4500, but in parts from BMW I have spent way over £2000 over the year getting parts ready, i have been planning it for a long time..

What a superb restoration. I thought I recognised that reg number from somewhere but I'd forgotten all about the mag thing. HJH is a Bracknell number so I guess Sytners built the car from one of BMW GB's 4 door 325i's. Or something like that.
A moredoor can look really nice in the right colour with the Alpina stuff.

Are you keeping it as an automatic?

Loving the work.

I'm sure the body man was pleased to work on some quality German metal rather than that ford scrap outside his unit. :D

I'll look forward to seeing this at some meets.

What's the location of the paint man?

Andy is in Rochester, Kent. Have a look at his web site www.andysautobody.co.uk he has turn out some nice projects over the last few months.

Andyboy you are correct, it was made by sytners from a 325i se. It's a manuel at the moment, and I think I will keep it that way. Not overly keen on autos.

Excellent stuff. Rather than overheaul the box (expensive), you may be better off with a good used unit. Although they're not as common as they once were, they're still pretty cheap. £100 should buy a good one.

Well she is coming on, wheels are back from Lepsons and looking great!
The new front spoiler is on and looking good and is set off with the new headlamps and grill.

I need to looking the bumper fitting as at the moment the front still does fit quite right. but another week or so, she should be ready to collect. Then on to getting rid of those cans!

So stage 1 complete, I collected her last night and drove back to London.

Overall very happy with the finished result, there is a few teething problems, the front bumper doesn't fit quite right and the rear wing needs a little looking at. I think Andy has done amazing job. everything sits very well.

otherwise stage one Complete....

Stage 2 exhaust.....
