Whats your BHP? Re-map?
Moderator: martauto
Iv been trying to get those exact details as il will be doing a dyno run with and without a remapped ecu. My remapped ecu needs a speed signal that I don't have ATM so the dyno runs will have to wait.
A stock 328i is around 197hp
With m50 manifold is around 210hp+
With the Mani +bbtb + remap should see around 230hp
I'm getting 0-60 times now of around 5.7 with the mods above on a stock ecu.

I think you'll need a pair of cams for 240-250 bhp
Mine stock was about 202 odd bhp, then 215ish with m50 manifold and about 223bhp with a bbtb. I haven't got a remap yet

Something like that, figures are from memory but i remember being more impressed with the bbtb than the manifold

Early m50 air box with an oem bmw filter

key with having the m50 manifold and remap is a nicely free flowing exhaust..!
i would be more aiming for 230-235 after my danthe remap ''and'' whats on mine..... everything except cams

A 2 door e30 with 8 cylinders, what could be better

My m52b28 with fritz exhaust made 227bhp and with the m50 intake and a remap it only went to 237bhp.
Didnt really notice much difference except the power came in a little bit later.
Im also wondering if it is worth fitting cams and getting another remap for another 10 to 15 bhp.
I want more power but I dont want the weight of the s50.
anyone know what bhp is possible from a m52b28? without a turbo or super charger...?

Nice, what map did you use?labrat wrote:My m52b28 with fritz exhaust made 227bhp and with the m50 intake and a remap it only went to 237bhp.

Those are some awesome power figures! How many miles does your engine have and is it a steel liner or nikasil?
Its a steel liner. with a powerchips remap. but its the fritz exhaust which was the best mod. extra 30bhp from stock and its a thing of beauty. however it does sound like it should be on a track and your neighbours will hate you.
I love it though and making it sing will be my ruin im sure. Those pesky porkers are everywhere trying to take my money.

Is the exhaust a 2.5" twin all the way through? Do you had any pics? Sounds really nice.

A few quick snaps. Its a bit tucked away, so difficult to shoot.
The manifold is a lovely rainbow if colours.
The centre cans scrape on some mountainous speed humps but generally its ok.
The back box is nice and small i ent measured the pipes but they dont look to big which is good.
I would recommend the fritz exhaust, tell Rich I recommended it. I would use them more but they are miles away from me.
A snap of my conversion to complete the photo frenzy.

I am thinking about s52 cams but the s52 i hear only made 240bhp. so is it worth putting cams in as i have 237bhp already.
I done the m50 intake cos loads of people claimed it would give me 20bhp extra but it only gave 10bhp and i could not tell the difference.
so my ponder is will i notice the difference with s52 cams???
I also want to keep it N/A so dont fancy a turbo, plus it also sounds expensive.

I've read 260+ is possible with M50 manifold, BBTB, Cams, underdrive pulleys, remap (and prob a few otherthings). If you wait long enough for me to save up for a remap and fitting cams (and finish my project) then I'll let you know what to can be achieved.
Oooh 260+ bhp !?!?!
Thats what I want
maybe I will get some cams and another remap.
Its just that after the manifold only gave me 10 bhp I thought if the cams only give me another 10 bhp is it really worth it?
Hartge only managed to get 245bhp out of the 2.8 lump.
Plus I have heard that 250bhp is all the pink injectors can produce.
Please let me know what you get out of yours when its done. Plus what the mods were.

There's a guy over on e36coupe.com who had all that done (and possible more) and he was just pushing 265, I'd be happy myself with anything over 250, 260+ would just be a bonus. I can't find his thread or the website he had with mods and figures etc. He was in PBMW a few yrs ago.

Yeah thats him! That does sound cheap, he did tones of work to the car, diff, wheels, engine mods etc. Did he not have it mapped before and got around 265 or so or was that prior to more mods? Be interesting to hear what it puts down.

It was mapped a long time ago by Jason (B&W) and it was flashed then live mapped on the road. The power figure was done on some one else's rollers
He's got a dyno dynamics rollers now and he's going to run it and see what if anything else they can do. I doubt there's much peak power left but drivability is also good
