My Fuel Gauge has stopped working
Does anyone know, if there is a particular fuse associated with the gauge? or anything else that may have blown? My bro said, there's a small nut located on the back of the instrument cluster that can come lose, which will affect the gauge not working..
This happened after one of the wires on the + battery terminal had come lose.

Thanks

What does "not working" mean? Sits right down in the red zone, and never moves?

Also, what car?

And all you did was change the relay? You didn't try and access the fuel pump at any time, or fiddle with the wiring under the dash?

If you haven't disturbed any wiring, first thing to check would be the sender itself:

I wanted to change the fuel pump too, but haven't been able to get hold of one atm.
Basically, the car has been jerking whilst driving, only sometimes however, over the last week or two. It cut out twice yesterday, first time it fired up again, albeit after a few minutes of waiting. The second time, it wouldn't start at all. It fired up after I replaced the relay earlier today and has driven ok too. It has now started jerking again and also the tempreture gauge went up from its normal level it sits at, but the engine wasn't hot at all, as i checkd it when i got home, after a pretty short drive. I'm just thinking its all related, although I'm not sure.
Thanks for the article too 8)

After replacing my fuel pump relay today. I went on to start the car and everything seemed fine. However I've noticed that fuel gauge isn't working now..
Bit confused, as it worked fine prior to replacing the relay.

Any help with this will be appreciated..

Thanks

I have two covering plates under the rear bench. Shall I check the wiring on both? I've never checked under the smaller plate tho. Thanks for the info.. I have a spare sender unit, maybe I should just put it in?

I have located the overheating problem, it's a hose. I just couldn't see any water leaking yesterday, but it's showing today. Would this have any affect on the car cutting out?

Thanks for the feedback again..

Unfortunately I have not been able to check this out, as I'm ill atm.
However, the car won't start up either now, even tho battery seems ok? I jumped it this morning, left it running for around half hour and then turned the engine off, before trying to start it again immediately. But it would'nt start, like the battery is fooked. I've also noticed a weird sort of smell coming from the engine. It's not losing water or oil either..
Could it still be the battery or even the alternator?

Thanks
Pal

Don't know if this matters, but after running the car for about 15mins, I'm getting, what I think is too much heat coming from them manifold area, snuff to make the body really hot..

You should be able to see that, i've changed the title of the thread. As, with some help, i've resolved two of the issues, however the original problem still exists

Ah, so you've messed about with the thread so that we can't see the original question.

Not very helpful for future readers.

You should have just said "still got a problem withe fuel gauge" instead of bump.

Have you searched the wiki? The loose nut is a very common problem.
