Hello,
My sound system seems to be just ..crap..
I have standard front speakers in the footwells, the rear speakers are new, pretty good. And a Sony stereo, I have checked all speakers and swapped stereo unit. But eveytime the volume goes up the speakers crackle and eventually the stereo cuts out, it comes straight back on, but I have to turn it down, and well its annoying.
Strangely I can have the radio on louder than the CD player or Auxillary player but still only just able to hear it when on the motorways and what not.
Do I need to replace all the wiring? cheers
Sound system cutting out?

What model Sony? Explain how you wired the two power leads to the stereo. Did you connect both to one 12V supply?
Clue to me is the thing working better with the radio than CD as it sounds like your stereo is not getting full voltage (due to wrong supply wire or bad connection) when your CD is running it drains more power so your amp cannot work and thus cuts out.
Oh and moved to correct section.

Thanks for moving it, I didnt realise.
Not sure on exact model, I'll have a look when I finish work.
I know that one of the power leads is shorted to the cigarette lighter supply because that lead wasn't getting any power. I belive that to be the memory lead?
It originally wasnt getting any power because everything in line with fuse 10 isnt working. So interior lights, lights behind heat controls, clock and boot light including the stereo power lead. So being lazy I shorted that power lead to the ciggy lighter as that worked.
I imagine that sounds culprit?
Cheers

It sounds very likely. Bodges normally unearth more problems than they solve. Find whats wrong with the correct wires and fix it.

Have you got a fuse on one of the lives that go to the head unit it could be a low amp fuse try changing to a higher one.
