Been offered this for £350, full MOT, Full Service history, paint is faded but will come up nice with a good t cut and mop.
Full electrics including roof.

Its the 1.6 16v model and only covered 41k

My idea is to let the Mrs Drive it this summer, then keep it in the garage till next summer and sell it for a little profit. Is there anything in it?

I personally hate these cars but the Mrs wants a cheap convertible for some summer fun as shes never had one before

someone also said the plate may be worth some cash

Its a hateful council turd BUT it looks unmolested and assuming the mileage is verifiable with history and it has no major issues, i cannot see how you can go wrong*

* You drive / sell Kias for a living so you are undoubtably used to people pointing and laughing at the loser in the council scrapper :)

IIRC thats a "solar" limited edition escort, very rare and desirable but still worth f*kk all :D

I had an early mk5 escrot soft top, it had the lovely CVH donk that rattled like a skeleton having a wank in a tin box.. still far better than the early Zetec that this will have..

but at 350 sheets run it till the Mot expires and scrap it ?

Steve, what make you say the CHV is better than an early Zetec?

Even though it's a vile turd I think it would be a shame to scrap it given the fact that it has such low miles 1 owner from new and full dealer service history. I'm sure one of the deranged ford perverts would appreciate it.

And yes your right it is a solar very much doubt that makes it rare and desirable though lol

Sticky valves were the main one. But as an engine it was light years ahead. First decent Ford engine for years.

Yep, vastly better than the CVH.

Unlike the CVH, the cams and hydrolic lifters didnt wear out in 2 minutes and was a good basis for tuning.

I do have a soft spot for both though.

I can't believe people are suggesting to buy it.

What a horrible turd, you'd have to pay me to drive it.

And don't forget the valve stem oil seals baz. They modified them from the original design in the end and incoperated the valve spring base plate into the seal assembly. To hold the f*cker down!!!

The zetec isn't a bad donk all in however there are a few niggles, valve sticking/lifter issues as above, irritating side feed injectors (upgrade awkward), plastic timing tensioner failures (last the life of the engine my arse i have 2 cracked ones), poor port flow (for a 16v) and a nightmare to change a starter on in situe.
That said they are the last 4 pot motor ford have built to last, all the newer stuff follows an "its broken throw it in the bin" mentality and the new GDI engines, things/issues i have been hearing about those boggle the mind.
