Ok, so im still struggling a bit with the temps for my car.

After looking at a few high powered e30s and competition spec cars, a popular route seems to be remote mounting the radiator to the boot, this can give great flow to and from the radiator.

When im drifting im out non stop so the car doesnt really get a chance to cool down and no matter how much ducting and fans I have on the car the flow speed of the air going through the radiator isnt very fast. There are a few plans in the future for power too so getting the cooling up to the best it can be is my first goal

The pros of the radiator in the boot will help for me as Ill have no restriction on size/type of radiator and better airflow, Itll also help with positioning of the oil/ps coolers too.

I remember late James Clarkes e30 running a similar setup but I cant find photos or info on this.

Few people have advised the standard pump would be fine to run this sort of setup, Im not sure, is this so?

Any ideas?

Thanks

These look good. 2.9 inches thick though, so might be tight?

I've been vaugely thinking about wing vents (behind the front arches) or bonnet vents for mine, which should help under-bonnet temps.

Would you box the rad in and supply it with cold air feeds if you put it in the boot? What about getting rid of the hot air from it?

Cheers. Dave. :)

Are you running a standard thermostat?

Yep running a standard stat driled with about 8 holes in it, which helped massively

That rad looks so much better, the thickness of it is huge, but as you say thats going to be fairly tight on space for maintaince, however reading through it does seem the simplistic solution although maybe the most costly...

I run without the bonnet alot, looks pikey, but it helps.

The rad would be boxed in, mines a touring so for regs id have to anyway, feeds to the radiator from ducts in the windows, lexan with pipework, and maybe from above too. Removal of the air would be through the rear floor or where the number plate sits via ducting again to maximise the efficiency of the air passing through

Being able to pick and choose radiators brings the cost down on that part...
