Just finished final coat and i think they have come out really well.

Was going to do them all red, much prefer them, but didnt want to lose the use of the reversing light.

I used this paint which only cost Ԛ£3.99 from local model shop.
Many shades there to choose but i went for Clear Red as this looked the closest match.

Yes they have a good shine.

The secret?Spray light coats and in front of the fire in the lounge winkeye Misses went skitz cause of the smell but i just explained that Ԛ£4 is a lot of money to some people and if i spray them in my shed then they will f*ck up cause its so cold and that will be Ԛ£4 down the swanny :P

Was going to go back to the shop and see what shades of Black/Grey they have to do the fronts/sides,but was wandering what the reverse lights would look like done?
Not thinking of a Heavy Black, more see through?
and dont slate me,its only an idea

What do you think?

lights look good mate.

Make sure you get some orange bulbs otherwise plod will pull you for them eventually.

I got pulled in the small hours on Sunday morning, as i turned into my drive, i noticed the plod volvo estate behind me a few streets behind and as I live in a cul-de-sac I knew he was following me. Blue lights came on as I indicated to turn into the drive. I played the fool, looked remorseful and accepted they did not flash orange and told him I had my originals in the garage which I would put on the following morning, so he let me go without the Ԛ£30 fine. Obviously I have yet to change them back to the standard ones

Think I may put my red clusters on Ebay winkeye

you guys reckon that an all red prefacelift cluster will look good, leaving the reverse light in white ?? (and putting anorange bulb on the repeaters that is too)

Beemerlad!

Will fitting orange bulbs actually make them flash orange?

I know this sounds thick but i seem to remember a thread about this a while ago and they still flashed bright red!

Someone please correct me if im wrong :)

not sure i've ever seen pre-facelift rear clusters done all red before mate

If you can get hold of a set cheap enough, i.e Ԛ£5 for a pair, then give it a try mate. You could also use coach line tape to partly mask off the reversing light bit, so that you end up with thin red strips going down the reverse light part.

don't know mate, have not tried it and not really fussed now that i'm getting my new chariot.

If it does not work then fair enough, you just have to be prepared to pay a Ԛ£30 fixed penalty if plod stops you for them( unless you can talk your way out of it).I know Geeman had some on his car before and he took them off after getting his collar felt.

hmmm I can try getting a cheap pair of clusters and play with it, Im sure they will look good tho, but not too sure about the red stripes in the reverse light... I actually like the cluster as it is, not trying to make it look like the newer type !

just done mine all red too (including reverse light) here we are allowed red indicators and reverse lights not required except for MOT when i will borrow a set of lights for the day.

not tried it yet but red plus green = yellow, so in theory a green bulb should produce yellow light through a red lens.

i will give it a go and confirm though!!

will post a piccie to soon, but just a thought why not try doing what modern cars do to get the all red effect. if you mask off thin stripes on your indicator and reverse lights and spray red, then remove the strips when all dry the appearance during the day will be all red, but the indicator should flash orange and the reverselight should still be white(ish),

the thin strips can be bought at Halfords, use the ones they sell to make your car go faster with a racey strip down the side!

good idea, ill see how i go,if not i may try that!

but think ill look into getting some bulbs first!

i was reading about these bulbs for mine last night.

If you file off one of the pins on the side then you should get it to fit!

Sounds a bit malicious but says that in the advert on Ebay!

Hope this helps :)

ive just done another set but this time got the same paint but transparent smoke, done the fronts and side repeaters and had a play with spare rears.
Masked off all the Red areas and sprayed reverse light and indicator.
They have come out ok but i have to keep having another look at them because im not yet convinced they look any good!

Give me 5mins and ill stick a pic up :)

i thnk smoking the reverse light would look ok with the indicator red
as long as it isnt to dark

been contemplating trying t on one of my spare sets

all reds aint cahv
if you look at mine on the car you be hard presed to tell that they are tinted
i think theysuit the e30 better than standards
a few people who dont know the car think that mine are standard
